i love how the pointed tips of their hats touch above... it almost looks like a tender dual of sorts with headgear instead of swords. The black/red contrast is striking as well :)

If I should guess at the theme, I'd say it appears to be a magical duel or a duel of the mind. Maybe the two people bent over in the background are the ones duelling?
